When Trump pardoned a man who had been on live TV across the world and tasered live on TV, a policeman while holding him down. To the point of a heart attack, where police officers have taken their own lives.

When he did this, he created his own militia, a step taken by Adolf and many dictators since then.

He created 1500 brown shirts; these were the people who pillaged the descent into silence and swept Hitler to power.

In simple terms, Trump emboldened many more the next time they are needed. They will feel that they will be free to do far, far worse; he enabled the system to call him innocent.

This is why you must be NOT and REFUSE to be gaslight when people say Elon wasn’t a Nazi salute.

We are in the early days of Bonhoeffer as Christians, and we HAVE to speak out.

For those who don’t know, Bonhoeffer was a man who spoke truth to the Nazis and set about standing up to them in every way. It ended with him being hung by piano wire in Auschwitz. Before anyone picks up on him helping to try and kill Hitler, Let’s not try that in the modern era, but let’s imitate his speaking truth to power until they run out of words.

We have to say simple, immutable truths to power at all times and in all ways.

I have spent the last evening debating with the average rabid Trump fan and, more interestingly, other Christians about the sermon given by Marian Edward Buddle (a new hero of mine).
I think I made progress with some very anti-LGBTQ Christians and even, surprisingly, some trump fans.
The LQBTQ Christians we know, the one that puzzled me was all those people saying religion and politics don’t mix.
They have always mixed and often been unwanted
Moreover
I was actually heartened to see our actual message get the attention it has.
A particularly Anglican understanding of all these issues.
It challenged so many people’s views.
The power of Jesus Message always hits the mark..
After all our recent troubles with archbishops and inept management of safeguarding issues.
This was one I was proud to hang my hat on.

When our church does not deal with abusers properly
When Musk does Hitler salute
Whenever we get power placed in front of us, we have to speak truth to it.
We have to make our lives examples of truth.

Our grandparents had their turn. We have had 40 years of peace, and so we think it won’t happen to us. But like the police unions in America, who supported Trump and are VERY unhappy now, whatever “safe” demographic you think you will belong to. Nothing will protect you when the wind blows your way. A ultra right-wing nationalist America will be more dangerous than Germany ever was.

It’s going to become hard to speak mercy, love and immutable truths, people.
But its our turn, this generation has never been asked to stand up and be counted.
